What is Foster care?
Foster Care is a state-run child welfare system that provides alternative living situations to children whose parents are unable to provide adequate care.
The idea of foster care is that a child is better off in a household than an orphanage even if the child is only living there temporarily.
Becoming a foster family is a family who has been approved by the state who steps into the gap when the birth parents of a minor child (and/or children) who are unable to provide shelter and care for them.
Locally in Volusia/Flagler Counties there are 850 children in foster care. 55 children are removed from their homes each month and on average there are 75 children in need of foster home placement.
The ultimate goals for children in foster care include either reunification with family, guardianship or adoption.
If only 7% of the world’s 2.1 billion Christian’s would care for only 1 child whether they would fostered or adopt there would be no need for orphanages or a foster system.
Reasons children are removed from their homes and placed into Foster Care.

Adoption is the social, emotional, and legal process in which children who will not be raised by their birth parents become full and permanent legal members of another family.

Wrap Around Ministry
Wrap Around is a ministry within Calvary Christian Center that is designed to “wrap around” families who have answered the call of foster care and adoption. This ministry is vital to ensure that families are not alone in their journey.

What is Wrap Around?
Wrap Around is a ministry within Calvary Christian Center that is designed to “wrap around” families who have answered the call of foster care and adoption. This ministry is vital to ensure that families are not alone in their journey.
Wrap Around assists in meeting the material needs for Foster families. Foster parents are often given a small window of time to prepare before their placement arrives. When the child arrives they often come with the clothes on their back and sometimes a small bag of belongings. In other cases the child is a newborn, so the need is even greater. Foster homes may not have items such as a crib, formula, bottles, diapers, etc. This is where wrap around steps in.
Not only does wrap around serve material needs but also physical needs. These needs may include providing meals, running errands, helping paint and set up a room for a placement, taking children to therapy or doctor appointments, haircuts, carpooling to school/games, babysitting to give foster parents a night off, and more…
Wrap Around host a “Parent’s Night Out” once a month at Calvary Kid’s Center for foster parents to drop their children off. Their children are provided dinner and then participate in various fun actives for a few hours while the parents use this time to unwind, grocery shop, clean or even go on a date.
Wrap around also serves those who have adopted. Anyone who has ever brought a child home whether biologically or through adoption knows can be a huge adjustment. Wrap Around understands that acts of kindness such as providing a meal, setting up a diaper registry, or sitting in court with a family finalizing their adoption is an incredible way to show love and support.
Not everyone can foster, not everyone can adopt, but everyone can do something.
The possibilities with Wrap Around are endless.
